Make Extra Money Selling on Teachers Pay Teachers

March 8, 2020

Make-Extra-Money-Selling-on-Teachers-Pay-Teachers

How can you make extra money as a teacher? There are many options for earning extra income as a teacher. But, I wanted to share why selling on Teachers Pay Teachers was the right choice for me.

As a teacher, I wanted to earn extra income. Typically, teachers do not get merit based pay, bonuses, big raises, or promotions like other professions. Yet we have master’s degrees, go above and beyond to reach every student, and work well past our contracted hours. So, what is a teacher to do who needs extra money? That’s where Teachers Pay Teachers comes in!

Why did I start Selling on Teachers Pay Teachers

As a teacher who needed to make extra money, the panic started to hit when we decided to put our first house for sale. We had outgrown our  starter home, and it was time to move on. However, a bigger house meant a bigger mortgage, not to mention all of the extra expenses that go along with settling into a new home. And here I am stuck making my teacher salary and there was not much I could do to change it. Right? Wrong!

How can I earn more money as a teacher? Well, there is always getting a second job at night, tutoring after school and on weekends, drive for Uber, babysit or nanny…the list goes on, but all of these options for me seemed dismal. I really didn’t want to spend more time away from my young son at home. So, what kind of work could I do on a flexible schedule, that felt rewarding and fulfilling? My light bulb moment – sell my teaching resources on Teachers Pay Teachers!

Teachers Pay Teachers is a Great Fit for Me

Selling on Teachers Pay Teachers was a great option for me. Just like most teachers, I was already creating my own lessons and activities to do with my students. I was creating centers, bulletin boards, book companions, classroom decor, day and week long classroom transformations, and many other things. So of course it was a natural fit for me to start selling these things I’ve already created on Teachers Pay Teachers. Now I just had to figure out how to do it!

My Goals to Make Extra Money Selling on Teachers Pay Teachers

Make-Extra-Money-Selling-on-Teachers-Pay-Teachers

When I made the decision to start selling my resources on Teachers Pay Teachers I set a reasonable goal for making extra money. I wanted to make a little extra each month so if we needed to buy something, like a can of paint or a lamp to fix up a room in our new house, my extra money from selling on TpT can cover it. A can of paint you guys! I can do this, right?

Extra Income from Selling on Teachers Pay Teachers

Oh My Goodness! My earnings on Teachers Pay Teachers have far surpassed my goals for making a little extra buy-a-can-of-paint money. Of course I put in a lot of time and energy figuring out how and what to sell on Teachers Pay Teachers. But now that I have a system down that works for me, the possibilities seem endless! With the extra income I’m earning on Teachers Pay Teachers I can totally fix up my house, but also vacation and travel, all without touching my bank account or classroom teacher salary! I love that we are able to road trip, day-cation, and do lots of little extras as a family! This is all because I decided to start selling resources I was already creating for my classroom on Teachers Pay Teachers!
